Hemp hat size guide
Our hemp hats have no drawstring inside, so getting the size right matters more than with a stretchy cap. Measure your head once, compare it with the charts below, and if you land between two sizes, take the bigger one.
- Get a soft tape measureA sewing tape works best. No tape? Use a piece of string and measure it against a ruler afterwards.
- Find where the hat sitsPlace the tape about ½ in (1 cm) above your ears and eyebrows, across the widest part of the back of your head.
- Measure snuglyPull the tape snug but not tight and read the number where it meets. Measure twice.
- Compare with the chartFind your number in the chart for your hat. If you're between two sizes, choose the bigger one.

Why should I size up with a hemp hat?
Most caps and beanies stretch or have an adjustable strap. Our hemp hats don't: there's no drawstring and no elastic band, and hemp fabric barely stretches. A hat that's a little big sits comfortably and you can tuck a folded tissue under the band. A hat that's too small never fits.
I have a big head. Which hat fits?
The frayed and foldable sun hats both come in XL/XXL, made for heads up to 64 cm (25⅛ in). It's the size people tell us they couldn't find anywhere else.
What does US hat size mean?
It's the head circumference in inches divided by π (about 3.14). A 7⅝ hat fits a 24 in (60.9 cm) head. The table above converts the common sizes.
