Why wool for winter accessories?

Wool stays warm even when it's a bit damp. Snow on your boots, sweat on a hike, a wet dog in the hallway. It breathes too, so your legs don't overheat once you're back inside. And a hand-knit stitch traps air, which is what actually keeps you warm.

Why do our leg warmers and ear warmers have a fleece lining?

Some people love wool. Some can't stand it on bare skin. We lined ours with fleece so you don't have to choose: wool on the outside, soft fleece against your ankles or ears.

How do you wear leg warmers?

Pull them over leggings or tights and fold the top down. Or wear them over your boots as cuffs. Ballet class, a yoga warm-up in January, a cold kitchen floor in Chicago: that's what they're for.

Questions

Questions people ask

Do wool leg warmers itch?

Ours are lined with fleece, so the wool doesn't touch your skin.

How do I wash hand-knit wool?

Hand wash in cold water with a little mild soap, press the water out gently and dry it flat. Don't wring it or put it in the dryer.

What is yak wool?

The soft under-hair of yaks, the long-haired cattle that live high in the Himalayas. It's what keeps them warm through a Tibetan winter, and it feels a lot like cashmere.

Where are these made?

In Kathmandu, Nepal, knitted and crocheted by hand.
